1. How does this site work?
Schools enter information indicating the kinds of work-based learning experiences they need for their students (like internships, field trips, guest speakers, etc). Businesses and partners enter the types of work-based opportunities they offer. The result is a database that makes a “connection” between the business and the school.
2. How do I know the information is legitimate?
The site administrator screens all participants after they enter their information. The administrator ensures that the businesses are legitimate and that the school information is valid BEFORE it ever gets posted.
3. What's the process after a match is found?
The business or partner and the school district are put into direct contact with each other. This direct link will facilitate more efficient planning and takes out the “middle man” in scheduling and completing an education opportunity.
4. What is a "Partner"?
A partner is an entity that is not a business, as such, but might be able to facilitate or coordinate a work-based learning experience. An example of this might be a labor union who offers an apprenticeship program. Another example might be a federal, state or local publicly-funded agency that would offer a work-based opportunity with that agency. While all of our businesses are partners, we want to include these special affiliates.
5. Why should a business or partner participate?
A business should participate because they want their business to thrive! They want to remain competitive with a strong supply of educated and well-trained workers. These workers can be found right here – in our own school districts!
6. Why should a school district participate?
It’s a great chance to build relationships that will benefit students, businesses and the entire region as we work to grow a competitive workforce.
